 Cindy Schwientek

I was born in Leeds England in 1958 and my family emigrated to Australia in 1961. We lived in Elizabeth, a suburb of Adelaide South Australia.

I grew up with horses and spent many years competing at 3 day events.

I met Bernie during a performance of Orpheus in the underworld, long story. We dated for a short while and then married in 1977. We have 2 beautiful children, Jody and Adam and 2 wonderful grandchildren, Brayden and Ashley.

My mother passed away 20 years ago and my father just 1 year ago. I really miss my mum.

I get very angry when I hear stories from politicians world wide on how there is nothing wrong with our planet.

I get annoyed at short sighted people who think jobs are more important than the trees on our planet.

We need to look further into the future instead of now.

I want my children and more importantly, my grandchildren to have the best of this planet.

We owe it to them all.

I was born in Broken Hill, New South Wales in 1954 to Walter and Anita Schwientek, who had just escaped post world war 2 Europe. As my parents were German, in fact my father was in the German Panzer division, and therefore not surprisingly, my early recollections were of persecution and racial vilification. We eventually moved to Adelaide in South Australia, where my parents took up ownership of a corner deli. Both of my parents died one day when crossing an unmarked railway crossing, I was seven. I was raised by my grandmother who was the blueprint for the old German warhorse. I had a normal and happy childhood thanks to this wonderful woman.

I met Cindy one night when she fell down an aisle stair in a live theatre show, another story that should be told over a few drinks, and we were married 12 months later. We raised 2 wonderful children, Jody and Adam, and now we have an empty nest.

The state of our planet and our thoughtless lifestyles consume my thoughts these days. I want my children and grand children to have what I had, a vibrant and healthy planet. A place where they can confidently plan for a long and healthy futures.

As a teen growing up in the Cold War, I dreamed of "beyond 2000" where as a species we will have developed enough technology to have an exciting and comfortable life while still looking after our only home, planet Earth. Instead, we have chased the good lifestyle with no regard for the planet's future and still to this day, people find it hard to believe there is a planetary crisis on hand. Unbelievable!

The news is not all bad, good people are out there, working hard to educate us on and repair the damage to our home. Planet Ark, Greenpeace, Cleanup Australia and so the list goes on.

It is now our turn, not just Cindy and I but all of us, to help the repair of our planet. Support these great organisations and follow their lead in changing what we all do day to day. Find out how we can change to reverse the damage done to our planet and then, do it.

We all have to do it, otherwise our children face a bleak future and we do not want that!

My likes:
  • Kind and thoughtful people
  • Dreamers
  • People who try, even if they fail
  • Hungry Jacks - Yum

My dislikes
  • Narrow minded people
  • Stupidity
  • Violence
  • Waste

My Heroes
  • My grandmother
  • Cindy
  • Steve Irwin
  • Bill and Julia Young
  • Andrew and Joanna Hooker
  • Anthony Mann
  • Colin Ricketts
  • Deborah DeWilliams
  • Anyone who has the planet's safe future at heart

I was not born on Mars, But I wish I was. I'm Australian born and raised in half of the states in Australia. I remember Adelaide, Bathurst, Adelaide again .. Bathurst again, I've been around. Warwick QLD, Tennant Creek NT (Born there...). I'm now 27. Living in Tasmania, gearing up for a walk around Australia to prove a few things, and to change a few things in my life and in myself. I want to prove that hardcore Computer Gamers can live without their computers, and I want to lose weight and get healthy.

Jun Yuki. Is my online name, my Alias. I play many games, primarily online against other people. I very much enjoy the communities within the online world, but the games are getting garbage. WoW, CoD2, anything within those realms I enjoy. I've met some great people online, KedderZ being one, much respect there. Some I've met in real life. Lets hope we can all be friends.

The world around me is dying. Slowly, our beautiful world is bleeding out. I hope we can fix her, I hope we can return her to her greatness. It's sad that as a younger generation I honestly see no future for our young. I can't possibly comprehend us having a livable world at the rate we're going. I hope I'm proven wrong here, I honestly hope that we can reverse the damage we've done. It seems ridiculous to we that we as a people are very happy to destroy the only place that we can live. Being in Tasmania has shown me how much portions of our race care for little more than greed, wealth and useless stuff like that. Seeing virgin rainforest fall to axe and chainsaw rends my heart.

I believe that the sun is shining, on the other side of the night, Not everything looks hopeless about our race. There are some awe inspiring people out there. People progressing humans beyond the basic level. Pushing out further and further both in space and in out mental space. Scientists and Astronauts working tirelessly to push the human race further. These fantastic people allow me to forget the filth out there. These people make me want to be more. It's finally good to have some hope :)

I live for, My family, Music, Books and most importantly, MYSELF!

I'm a Potter-maniac, It's true. I love anything Harry Potter related, If you meet me in the street and want to talk Potter, I would love you for the entirety of our conversation :)

My likes:
  • Me. Sounds arrogant, but who cares. I like me for me.
  • Harry Potter!!!, well Ron actually :P
  • Gaming
  • Australian Hip Hop. I adore you guys. Keep it up don't ever let it die!

My dislikes:

  • Stupidity
  • Ignorance
  • Close-minded People
  • Self Righteous People

My Heroes:
  • My Parents. Who could not want to be like them?
  • Pressure, Suffa & Debris
